ABOUT

Arianna Muñoz is a Latina (Mexican-American) multidisciplinary creative based in London who explores underrepresented narratives through an unconventional lens. Her work encompasses writing, directing, and sound design, with occasional work as a producer. She is particularly interested in global majority and women-led narratives, and new work.

As a writer, Arianna has achieved recognition in both film and theatre. Her debut screenplay, MARY SHELLEY, was a semifinalist for the 2023 Nicholl Fellowship, and shortlisted for the Watersprite Film Festival's Writing for Screen Award. Her plays include IVY DAY (Golden Goose Theatre, Hope Theatre [upcoming]), and #EDIT (Hope Theatre, Theatre Deli). Her next play has been selected for development at the Grange Projects Residency.

Arianna directed the Off West End Award-nominated play GASLIGHT (Etcetera Theatre). She also directs her own writing, including #EDIT and IVY DAY, and was Associate Director on REPARATIONS (Soho Theatre, Riverside Studios). Other directing work includes sold-out productions of David Adjmi's MARIE ANTOINETTE (Corpus Playroom) and Kate Hamill's VANITY FAIR (ADC Theatre), and productions of Shakespeare, Marlowe, and Euripides. Arianna shadowed revival director Noa Namaat for CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA/PAGLIACCI (Royal Opera).

Arianna's work as a sound designer spans from fringe theatre to the West End. She was Assistant Sound Designer on the Olivier-nominated musical NATASHA, PIERRE AND THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 (sound designers Gareth Tucker and Nick Lister for Autograph). Work as sound designer includes the Tony Craze Award-winning play REPARATIONS (Soho Theatre, Omnibus Theatre); the Off West End Award-nominated play GASLIGHT (Etcetera Theatre); and productions at Hackney Empire, Camden People’s Theatre, Theatre Peckham, and the Edinburgh Fringe. Arianna currently works in the sound departments on HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD (West End) and STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW (West End).

Arianna is a member of Park Theatre's Youth Board, and previously served on the V&A Museum's Youth Collective.
