Christ’s College Chapel
“The costumes, the acting, the staging, the full on organ music and live folky bit in the middle. Absolute perfection, all of it.”
-Audience review
This production, co-directed with Dan Pereira, was staged in the 16th-century Christ's College Chapel. Our aim with this production was to refocus the narrative squarely on the queerness of the original text, exploring the tensions between Edward, his lovers, and the homophobic society he inhabits.
The play was placed visually in a liminal space between the medieval and modern, with Edward bridging the gap between the two, gradually shedding his medieval robes as he became increasingly estranged from the court.
